Tower of London Poppies
I Went along with an 'understanding' of what this was about and the intention to take lots of pictures but actually got quite overwhelmed by it all!
The sheer amount of poppies (still being laid as I type this) is just mind boggling, each one representing a death......and once a life of an incomprehensibly brave soldier who had his or hers taken so we can live the freedom we do today, all 888,246 have my utmost respect and thanks.
The installation is a beautiful work of art and portrays its title 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' incredibly, flowing out from the Tower of London onto and around the grounds below it truly is an amazing site and really worth visiting.
I went along at first light on a Sunday morning and was mostly alone, which in London is a feat in itself but made for a very sombre and emotional hour or so. I didn't take too many pictures as I spent most of the time in reflect and awe of the surroundings.
The Installation is running until the 11 November 2014 and really is worth a visit but if you can't, check out their website for more info, history and also the chance to buy one of these ceramic poppies with proceeds going to various service charities. http://poppies.hrp.org.uk/
